Slavery and the First Lady: An Interesting Past

This article was about how Michelle Obama had recently discovered she had slave roots in Georgia and South Carolina and like Barack Obama she too came from an interracial past. I thought is article was really interesting because it shattered the notion that presidents and first ladies historically were normally blue blood.. It further proves that we are a nation of a melting pot of people but with hard work and education all can rise above. The fact her background is painted with oppression and sadness her ancestors were able to strive forward and better themselves. I think this a great example for all children black or white or whatever that the people from your background are who you are and you owe it to them to well in life. Overall, Im happy that we have such an awesome couple in the White House and I think they are GREAT role models for all.
